    Third-Party
    Referrals & Services

You don’t need a referral from a physician if you’re an individual who wishes to see one of our clinicians. New clients are always welcome and when you contact us an intake specialist will gather important information about your needs, in order to match you to the right therapist.

We have extensive experience providing services to third parties such as medical clinics, insurance companies and employers, to support the mental health needs of individuals or populations under your care. Contact us to discuss your organization’s specific needs.

Healthcare Professional Referrals

We welcome referrals from health professionals such as physicians, specialists, and rehabilitation consultants.
To refer a patient or client, please use our referral form on behalf of the client.

Employee and Workplace Mental Health Programs

We have extensive experience in providing customized programs to support the mental well-being of employee populations, particularly those in environments with elevated mental health risk. From onsite psychological services, to in-clinic therapy, to evidence-based MindBeacon therapy, our employee mental health solutions are designed to provide cost-effective care with measurable outcomes.

We also provide workshops and training to organizations on topics that include mental health in the workplace, work-life balance, stress management and psychological safety. Our presentations are tailored to meet the needs of managers, employees and occupational health and wellness professionals, and range from one-hour “lunch and learns” to half- or full-day workshops.

Disability Management Services

Disability management is a key practice area of CBT Associates, and we provide work-function focused assessment and treatment services that support Stay-at-Work and Return-to-Work interventions. We have extensive experience in integrating successfully with the claimant’s circle of care to target early and safe Return-to-Work.

Some of our programs may involve MindBeacon therapy as part of a stepped-care continuum in order to maximize the opportunity for immediately accessible and cost-effective treatment.

Comprehensive/Independent Psychological Assessments

We are often consulted by third parties such as insurance companies, employers, lawyers and regulatory bodies that are seeking independent opinions about psychiatric diagnoses, impairments and disabilities. Comprehensive assessments typically involve a file review, extensive clinical interviewing, semi-structured interviewing and the administration and interpretation of a variety of psychological tests.

Integrating the results of a comprehensive assessment involves the identification and differential diagnosis of specific mental disorders. Such an assessment allows for opinions regarding symptom exaggeration or malingering, etiology, level of impairment or disability, and specific recommendations for treatment and disability management.

Treatment Suitability

When we receive a referral from a case manager we call her/him to discuss the case and the cost of the assessment and treatment. As regulated health care professionals in Ontario, we are required to arrive at our own independent diagnostic opinion before beginning treatment.

To do so, we conduct a brief treatment suitability assessment that typically consists of one and a half to two hours of clinical interviewing followed by one and a half to two hours of report writing, depending on the complexity of the case and the amount of collateral medical information that we are being asked to review. Our clinical training and experience as well as the use of a semi-structured diagnostic interview allow us to arrive at clear diagnostic opinions and realistic treatment plans.
