Yusef Karimi, PhD

Yusef Karimi is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and brings over 10 years of experience in providing evidence-based psychotherapy to a diverse range of clients, including children, adults, and couples. His primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but he also incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-based approaches to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. Yusef is highly skilled in treating anxiety disorders (such as generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and social anxiety), mood disorders (including depression), and trauma-related disorders (such as PTSD). He also works extensively with individuals facing relationship issues, self-esteem challenges, and work-related stress. Yusef's empathetic, client-centered approach ensures that his clients feel supported and understood. He emphasizes working collaboratively to set clear therapeutic goals and empower clients with practical skills that can help them navigate their challenges both during and after therapy. In addition to his clinical work, Yusef is actively involved in academic research and teaching. He holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and has taught psychology courses at the university level, helping to shape the next generation of mental health professionals. His research focuses on psychotherapeutic techniques and clinical applications, keeping him at the forefront of developments in mental health. Yusef regularly attends professional workshops and conferences to ensure his practice remains aligned with the latest evidence-based practices in psychotherapy. Yusef is fluent in English, Kurdish, and Persian, enabling him to provide psychotherapy services in these languages and meet the needs of a diverse client base. He is available for appointments during the day, with limited evening and weekend availability for clients requiring more flexible scheduling.
