    Tisha J. Ornstein, Ph.D., C.Psych.

    Psychologist
Dr. Tisha Ornstein concurrently licensed as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and became an Assistant Professor at Ryerson University (now known as Toronto Metropolitan University) in 2005. She joined CBT Associates to expand her licensure to include Clinical Psychology, and will be working under supervision to support adults with anxiety disorders and depression through cognitive-behavioural therapy. Dr Ornstein’s education began at York University where she attained an honour’s bachelor’s degree in psychology. She then travelled overseas to complete a Ph.D., in cognitive neuroscience from the University of Cambridge in England. Following her attainment of this degree, she returned to Toronto to complete a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children. Deciding to license clinically, she moved across the street to the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and the department of Neurology where she specialized in clinical neuropsychology and the examination of persons with brain trauma (i.e., traumatic brain injury; workplace injuries; stroke). This experience was proceeded by further training at the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in the area of dementia, and as well, working in private practice settings with a focus on brain trauma. Dr. Ornstein works as a clinician and researcher; she works in private practice and as part of the Toronto Western Hospital - University Health Network, and for various mental health services in the community. She holds an associate professor appointment at Toronto Metropolitan University, in the Department of Psychology. Her research has focused on cognitive changes, psychological distress, and pain related phenomena in traumatic brain injury and other psychopathologies. In a cyclical fashion, her clinical work informs on her research. Dr. Ornstein values active listening provided in a comforting setting. Research informed, best practice approaches are implemented with a focus on cognitive behavioural therapy for adults with anxiety disorders and depression. Please note that our associates work with many presenting issues, some of which are not listed in this biography. Please speak to our intake team at 416-363-4228 for more information.
