Sonomi Tanaka, MA., RP.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I am also an Art Therapist by training, graduating from Concordia University’s Creative Arts Therapies graduate program. Since graduating I have specialized further to work with children and teens using a play based CBT approach to engage clients. In working with Regesh Family and Child Services, I expanded my ability to help children and their families process a variety of challenges such as grief, anxiety and trauma. In my experiences with agencies such as Armagh House and Family Services Toronto I have had the privilege of working with women and children while they work through the after-effects of physical abuse and towards their new changed lives. I believe in the inherent ability of people to make meaning of their lives and to grow even under the most difficult of contexts. My therapeutic approach is eclectic as I integrate creative approaches with CBT and Internal Family Systems, as well as trauma/attachment lenses. I enjoy working with people from all age ranges and with a large range of presenting issues. Each person is unique and so I prioritize creating safe spaces where our work together will be tailored to your needs and preferred style of treatment.
