Ms. Samira Rostami is a member of College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and provides evidence-based treatments for clients of varied backgrounds. Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is Samira’s primary theoretical approach, however, she integrates aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-based approaches when applicable. Her specialization areas in clinical practice are anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mood disorders such as depression, psychological trauma such as PTSD, and relationship issues. She takes a non-judgmental, empathic and evidenced-based approach to her practice.
Ms. Rostami obtained her master’s degree in clinical psychology and family therapy from the University of Science and Culture (Tehran, Iran). Ms. Rostami has spent a number of years in research at The Royal Mental Health Hospital affiliated by the University of Ottawa with a focus on mind wandering and brain imaging with individuals diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar disorder. Ms. Rostami has taught the psychological courses in the universities in bachelor and master degree and delivered various workshops to the public in practical and psychoeducational issues. She has been a board member of the Anxiety Disorders Association of Ontario and helped in developing a preventive program for adolescents.
At CBT Associates, Ms. Rostami works with adults, couples and parents. She takes a non-judgmental attitude towards her clients to provide a safe environment for them to create therapeutic change.
