    Pascal Okorie, C.Psych. Assoc.

    Psychological Associate | Virtual Only
I have practiced in the areas of clinical, forensic and counseling psychology for over 10 years and have a wide breadth of experience working with visible minorities, indigenous peoples and multicultural individuals. My practice experiences include working on First Nation Reserves in various capacities, including as mental health and addictions supervisor, Indian Residential Schools program; providing mental health services to Corrections Canada, and Health Canada. I have also worked at different mental health establishments, including Saskatchewan Psychiatric Hospital, Battlefords Union Hospital Mental Health Centre and Saskatchewan Health Authority. In my forensic role I worked with youth, young adults and families involved in the justice system. At CBT Associates, I work with adolescents/youth, young adults, adults and families who are experiencing various mental health challenges, including trauma (intergenerational trauma), grief and loss, generalized anxiety and depression, suicide and ideations, different forms of addiction, work-life balance difficulties, relationship difficulties, among others. One of my fundamental treatment models is rooted in the belief that phenomenological (subjective) experiences are important in dealing with mental health challenges, and that everyone presents with unique sociocultural experiences in their pursuit of self-actualization. I am a strong advocate of culture sensitive/culture-oriented interventions, and individually tailored approaches to mental wellness. In my work I integrate research informed/evidence based multimodal approaches that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-informed Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Solution-focused therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Interpersonal therapy, the Risk Need Responsivity model, among others. I also conduct various psychological evaluations. I am a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, Saskatchewan College of Psychologists, Ontario Psychological Association, International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services. Away from work, I enjoy playing tennis, soccer and watching hockey. I am a community mentor of youth and young adults, a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, community and church volunteer and an avid explorer of nature.
