Melanie Russell is a registered psychotherapist and psychometrist. She graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, and continued post baccalaureate studies in psychometric testing, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectic behavioural therapy, exposure therapy, anxiety and panic for adolescents, and crisis intervention.
Melanie has been working in the field of psychology as a therapist for 18 years, with an emphasis on assisting clients struggling with Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Somatic Disorders, ADHD, memory and concentration issues, emotion regulation and building interpersonal skills.
Melanie began her work 18 years ago working with the Peel Sexual Assault and Rape Crisis Centre assisting victims and family through phone-based or in-person counselling. From there, she continued her work at various other organizations helping long-term and short-term disability claimants increase their ability to cope and function and move toward living their fullest life. Melanie has extensive experience working with clients in vivo, in-office, through phone counselling, and online teleconferencing methods of therapeutic intervention.
Melanie is also an active member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
