Dr. Touraj Amiri completed his Ph.D. in Counselling and Clinical Psychology at the University of Toronto. He completed his clinical training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), where he trained extensively in the assessment and treatment of adults with various mental health difficulties. During his pre-doctoral residency at CAMH, Dr. Amiri worked in the Mood and Anxiety Ambulatory Service and the Psychological Trauma Program.
Dr. Amiri’s primary theoretical orientation is cognitive behavioural, and he also integrates aspects of dialectical behaviour therapy, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy into his work with clients. Dr. Amiri is client-centered and strengths-based in his approach and he strives to provide a non-judgmental, collaborative, and safe environment for his clients to make therapeutic change. At the CBT Associates, he provides empirically supported treatments for a number of mental health difficulties, including mood and anxiety disorders (e.g. depression, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder), PTSD, and stress-related conditions. Dr. Amiri also provides comprehensive psychological assessments of mood and anxiety related difficulties.
