Dr. Katy Kamkar, PhD, CPsych

Dr. Katy Kamkar, Ph.D., C. Psych. is a nationally and internationally recognized clinical psychologist and leading voice in mental health, trauma, resiliency, and workplace psychological safety. She is a Clinical Psychologist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and an Associate Professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. From May 2023–May 2026, Dr. Kamkar was appointed to an executive position with the Government of Canada as the Federal Associate Organizational Ombudsperson, Mental Health at Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), and served as Executive Advisor to the Deputy Minister on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As of June 2025, she also served as Mental Health Special Advisor in the PSPC Ombuds Office, and from January to April 2026, she was Clinical Lead for the Government of Canada's Small Departments and Agencies Deputy Heads Mental Health & Resiliency Pilot. Her national honours include the Canadian Psychological Association's Award for Distinguished Contributions to Public or Community Service (2022), a Certificate of Recognition from the House of Commons (2021), and the IPAC Distinguished Service in Mental Health Promotion Award (2025). She is a Fellow of GLEPHA and an Associate Member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. Dr. Kamkar has delivered over 300 keynotes at venues ranging from the House of Commons to the United Nations, completed over 400 media engagements, and published more than 200 articles on trauma, resilience, and workplace mental. She has contributed to Canada's first Federal Framework on PTSD and was appointed Mental Health Expert to Ontario's External Independent Panel reviewing OPP culture, yielding 15 health national recommendations.
