Parisa is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) currently completing her practicum placement with CBT Associates and her Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Working from an evidenced-based framework using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered/Humanistic Therapy, Parisa works with adults experiencing a variety of mood disorders, including anxiety, depression, burnout, and stress as well as insomnia, chronic pain, PTSD, and body image issues. Additionally, she is very interested in working with individuals looking to establish a healthier relationship with food and address mood disorder related substance use concerns. She strives to provide a culturally sensitive and safe environment for each client where they can comfortably bring up their individual challenges. She is able to offer low cost services.
Initially, Parisa joined CBT Associates in 2019 as an Intake Coordinator while pursuing her graduate studies. Throughout this time, she has gained valuable client-support experience, connecting prospective clients to mental health services for their unique individual needs. Additionally, she has been working closely with highly experienced clinicians of CBT Associates, learning from their experiences, and attending clinical training sessions and workshops.
Parisa has also volunteered as a Crisis Line Responder with the Distress Centres of GTA where she used non-judgemental active listening to offer immediate crisis/distress management and supportive counselling, assisted with suicide safety planning, and de-escalated high-stress situations to individuals in the community.
Parisa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from York University.
