Leysa Cerswell is a clinical psychology resident at CBT Associates and is in the final stages of completing her PhD in clinical psychology at Fielding Graduate University. Leysa is also a faculty member at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies, where she has worked in partnership with over 35 health and social service organizations. In collaboration with partner organizations, Leysa co-designed and implemented mindfulness-based programs and trainings to increase community mental health care capacity and prevent burnout and compassion fatigue among frontline service providers.
Leysa’s research aims to address issues and concerns relevant to populations that are underserved or marginalized in mental health care. She has co-developed mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention programs for various groups including frontline service providers, educators, health care workers, families, and youth. Leysa has contributed to multiple books and journals and has taught across North America, Southeast Asia, and East Africa.
Leysa specializes in culturally grounded, evidence-based therapeutic modalities including CBT, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. Leysa has experience working with individuals and groups to address a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, grief and loss, burnout, stress management, and relationship challenges. Leysa’s compassionate, collaborative, and active approach to care aims to support clients in meeting their goals and improving their overall well-being.
