Dr. Lauren David received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Ryerson University and is currently a psychologist in supervised practice. She completed her predoctoral clinical internship and post-doctoral fellowship training at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, with specializations in the treatment of disordered eating, physical health concerns, and anxiety disorders. Lauren has also received clinical training at St. Michael’s Hospital (Department of Family and Community Medicine), Toronto General Hospital (Eating Disorders Program), Humber River Hospital (Adult Mental Health), and at Ryerson University (Healthy Eating and Lifestyle Lab). Her research has focused on disordered eating across the weight spectrum, with specific interests in body image and motivation for healthy behaviour change.
At CBT Associates, Dr. David provides assessment and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for a variety of mental health concerns. She has specialized training in working with clients with eating disorders and body image concerns. She also has extensive experience in helping clients with anxiety disorders (social anxiety, panic, chronic worry, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder), depressed mood, and perfectionism. Additionally, she has strong experience providing therapy to individuals coping with concerns related to physical health, including weight management issues, perinatal and postpartum difficulties, and insomnia.
In addition to working at CBT Associates, Dr. David currently holds a psychologist position at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. In this role, she trains other mental health clinicians in the provision of CBT and works within an interdisciplinary team at the Complex Diabetes Care Centre at North York General Hospital. Dr. David works collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their goals in an empathic and nonjudgmental manner. She provides evidence-based cognitive-behavioural therapy and also has experience incorporating empirically-supported approaches, including mindfulness, emotion regulation skills, and motivational interviewing. Treatment is tailored to the needs and goals of each client. Her practice is LGBTQ positive and weight neutral.
