Laura is a registered psychotherapist with experience working with individuals and families affected by mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and trauma. Through short-term and long-term counselling, Laura has been able to effectively enable her clients to devise immediate coping strategies and longer-term therapeutic plans. Laura utilizes evidence-based interventions drawing from cognitive behaviour therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and narrative therapy while liaising with other care providers to ensure a holistic approach to intervention.
Laura’s interest in the field of mental health has stemmed from a life-long ambition to support and advocate for individuals who are not fully engaged or who are struggling to reach their full potential.
Laura’s education led to a specialized clinical focus on eating disorder treatment. Laura focuses on a recovery process that address the many issues that contribute to the eating disorder, such as low self-esteem, relationship problems, perfectionism, and difficulties with school or work. She can also work to empower family members to be part of the solution instead of believing they are part of the problem.
Laura is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals as well as the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists.
