Julie Sarwan completed her Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology at York University. She has extensive experience, practicing psychotherapy for the past 9 years. She is member in good standing with the College of Psychotherapists Ontario.
Julie is committed to reducing the suffering and distress associated with psychological trauma, anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, substance abuse, disordered eating, body image and self-esteem issues, attachment and relationship difficulties, and major health conditions. She uses a client-centered integrative approach to psychotherapy, incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy and mindfulness-based approaches.
Julie is dedicated to providing culturally tailored psychotherapy in-keeping with clients’ cultural background. She recognizes that each person is an individual with unique cultural values and beliefs. Therefore, she provides treatment mindful of these values and beliefs. This allows her to develop effective client-therapist relationship within all cultures.
Julie understands the courage it takes to open up to someone. She is passionate about reducing the stigma of mental illness and to encourage individuals to seek treatment when needed. She continues to be actively involved in increasing public education and mental health awareness by presenting at various community health seminars.
At CBT Associates, she provides psychotherapy services to adults, adolescents, and families.
