Dr. Kathryn (Katie) Walker is a registered clinical and health psychologist who works with adults, children, adolescents and families. She completed her graduate training at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where much of her research and clinical work centered on the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)and school‐wide prevention of aggression and disruptive behaviour disorders. During her residency and postdoctoral fellowships at The Hospital for Sick Children she trained in the treatment of eating disorders, obesity, diabetes, adolescent medicine, burns, oncology, and chronic pain. Following this, Dr. Walker worked as a clinical health psychologist in the Chronic Pain Clinic at The Hospital for Sick Children, and is now the clinical health psychologist with the Ehlers-Danlos Clinics at Toronto General Hospital and at The Hospital for Sick Children.
At CBT Associates, Dr. Walker’s areas of clinical work include anxiety disorders, insomnia, ADHD, adjustment to and management of health and medical conditions or other stressors, and body-image distress. The clinical frameworks she formulates from include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Dr. Walker’s experience in school, community and hospital/medical settings informs her thinking about health promotion and the medical treatment messaging that children, families and adults receive, and how to empower individuals to feel good about themselves, navigate stressors in their lives, experience happiness and personal success, and adopt healthy lifestyles via mind and body.
