Dr. Alexander R. Daros, Ph.D, C.Psych

Alexander R. Daros received his PhD in Psychology from the University of Toronto and is currently registered to provide services to individual adults. As of Spring 2022, he is extending his practice to adolescents while under peer supervision. He completed his predoctoral clinical internship at the University of British Columbia where he worked with adults with a large variety of presenting issues. Alex has also received clinical training at Toronto Western Hospital (Bariatric Surgery Clinic), Ryerson University (Centre for Student Development and Counselling), and through several large-scale clinical research projects at the University of Toronto. Alex’s research is focused on integrating smartphone technology in the delivery of psychological services. He recently completed a one-year postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Virginia in the United States. At CBT Associates, Alex provides assessment and psychotherapy for a variety of mental health concerns. He has specialized training to work with clients on issues related to depressive and anxiety disorders, eating and body image concerns, emotion regulation difficulties, academic and workplace stress, relationship difficulties, identifying as LGBTQ, trauma, anger, and grief. Alex also works to integrate and understand how health-related issues might contribute to mental health difficulties in clients presenting for treatment. His training included exposure to a variety of evidence-based interventions, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and emotion-focused therapy. Alex takes an active, collaborative approach with clients to help them achieve their goals. Alex focuses on building a relationship with each client to understand the presenting concerns and their impact. Alex then provides a tailored treatment approach to address these issues, allowing the opportunity for clients to challenge themselves and provide feedback on their progress.
