Cynthia Wang is a registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counsellor (accredited by New York State Education Department) since 2009. Cynthia completed the Certificate of Psychology program from Ryerson University (Toronto) and received her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from New York State University at Albany.
Cynthia worked as a full-time mental health clinician at two community-based clinics in New York State for ten years. During her seven years at the Family Counselling Center, Gloversville, NY, Cynthia worked with children, adolescents and adults. She provided individual and group therapy. She also helped parents and families to cope with stress and challenges caused by the emotional or behavioural difficulties of their family members. Later Cynthia worked at an outpatient clinic at St. Mary’s Healthcare Amsterdam, NY. She provided evidence-based treatment to clients with various forms of psychological challenges and relational problems.
At CBT Associates, Cynthia provides treatment for adults, adolescents, couples and families on a broad range of difficulties such as depression, bipolar, various types of anxiety disorders, adult or child ADHD, relationship conflicts, loss and life transition. She also works with clients on stress management, insomnia, self-esteem, abuse and trauma. She applies Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in her practice as well as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). She incorporates strength-based and insight-oriented approaches to empower clients. Cynthia believes in resilience and striving for success in humankind. She assists clients in identifying and applying their strengths, support systems, and resources in therapy to achieve their treatment goals.
