Ms. Amber Mckenzie became interested in psychology while working at a residential addiction treatment centre for severely addicted adolescents. At this treatment centre, Ms. Mckenzie became aware of the life-changing impact of therapy.
She became passionate about helping people heal themselves and their relationships. She provides treatment to adolescents, adults, couples and families in the following areas: psychological disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression, and trauma); addictive disorders (e.g., alcohol use disorder, substance use disorder, and sex addiction); family relational problems (e.g., parent-child relationships, and communication); and intimate relationships (communication, conflict resolution, creating closeness, and break ups).
Ms. Mckenzie takes pride in providing meaningful education to others. Ms. Mckenzie has delivered over 100 professional presentations, she is a co-author of the book Counseling Insights: Practical Strategies for Helping Others with Anxiety, Trauma, Grief and more, and she has academic publications in the area of parenting, and addiction. Ms. Mckenzie works for the Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute, where she facilitates workshops that focus on helping individuals, organizations, and communities work with issues related to crisis and trauma. Ms. Mckenzie also works for Achieve: Centre for Leadership and Workplace Performance, where she provides workshops geared towards enhancing workplace interpersonal skills.
