Dr. Pitiakoudis holds an MA in counselling psychology and a PsyD in clinical psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. She completed her internship training at Jacobi Medical Center in New York. Her clinical approach includes cognitive behavioural methods as well as a holistic mindfulness style. She incorporates these into her therapeutic practice according to the individual needs of each client.
Her dissertation, entitled Intercultural Marriage: A Qualitative Study of Greek-American and Non-Greek American Unions, explored the lived experience of culturally mixed couples and their families. She has worked with a diverse clientele in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and as part of a multidisciplinary team. She is fluent in English and Greek.
At CBT Associates, Dr. Pitiakoudis applies her experience working with adults with mood and anxiety disorders, including major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, specific phobias and social phobia. She has experience in helping patients manage personality disorders, relationship problems, identity and life adjustment issues, stress, bereavement, and difficulties with self-esteem. Dr. Pitiakoudis has assisted patients with problems related to addiction and impulse control such as gambling, kleptomania, and anger management. Dr. Pitiakoudis has experience in providing group and couples therapy. Finally, Dr. Pitiakoudis also conducts comprehensive psychodiagnostic testing, immigration assessments, and motor vehicle insurance examinations. Dr. Pitiakoudis is a licensed psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
