Psycho-Educational assessments are conducted to identify learning disabilities and giftedness. Psycho-educational assessment involves a variety of psychological tests to evaluate academic achievement as well as thinking/reasoning abilities and a variety of cognitive processes, including memory, attention, and executive functioning. We also take a close look at behaviour as well as social and emotional functioning.
A comprehensive psycho-educational assessment can identify cognitive and academic relative strengths and weaknesses in cognitive and academic functioning. The understanding of relative strengths and weaknesses, together with an understanding of a child’s or adolescent’s emotional and social functioning, can be used to apply targeted intervention and support.
The results of a comprehensive psycho-educational assessment are practical strategies for school and home. We also provide recommendations for appropriate school support and placement and Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
